Senate Declares: From Now On, All Laws Must Rhyme and Chime

In an unprecedented move that has left grammarians giddy and lawyers groaning, the Senate has passed the "Rhyming Legislation Act," mandating that all new laws be written in rhyme. The bill, which sailed through with a unanimous "aye-aye," aims to make legal code not only clearer but also catchier.

Senator Melody Verse, the bill’s chief sponsor, explained, "We believe that if laws rhyme, they’ll be easier to remember and harder to ignore. Imagine a world where you can’t plead ignorance because the rules sing like a chorus!"

Critics, however, worry about potential confusion. Legal analyst I.M. Literal commented, "While I appreciate poetry, I fear courtrooms turning into open mic nights. I can already see judges debating whether ‘statute’ rhymes with ‘attitude.’"

In response, the Senate announced plans to establish a new position: the Official Rhyming Officer, charged with ensuring every clause is meter-perfect. As Senator Verse put it, "Justice will not only be served but also well-versed."

Whether this will usher in a golden age of lyrical legislation or simply turn Capitol Hill into a giant poetry slam remains to be seen, but one thing’s certain: from now on, if you break the law, you might just have to rhyme your way out of trouble.
